Ipe - The Class Leading Hardwood

Ipe, otherwise known as Brazilian Walnut, is widely regarded as THE class leader, and for good reason. According to the Janka Hardness Scale (measurement of a hardwood’s density), Ipe is the single densest hardwood ever, making it a top choice for high traffic and high pressure environments. Brazilian Walnut is so dense that special tools are required to work with the wood, meaning that specialty contractors are a must for any Ipe installation. Ipe carries deep reddish browns and a dark chocolate brown which sets it apart from most imported Brazilian hardwoods. Its unique dark colour allows each piece to flow into one another while still allowing for contrast and variation. There exists no higher quality hardwood flooring product than Ipe.
